Stop Scrolling is an iOS app with a Safari extension that overlays content on YouTube and Instagram to discourage mindless scrolling. The extension reads page content solely to identify and cover short-form video feeds, suggested posts, and similar distracting elements.
None. Stop Scrolling does not collect, record, transmit, or share any data about you or your browsing activity — not your identity, not the pages you visit, not the content you see. Everything described below stays on your device.
The extension stores your settings on your device using the browser's built-in local storage:
These values never leave your device. They are never sent to any server.
Blocking in Safari requires a subscription, purchased through Apple's App Store. The purchase is handled entirely by Apple; Stop Scrolling never sees your payment details, Apple ID, or billing information. Apple's own privacy policy governs the transaction. The only thing Stop Scrolling stores is whether your subscription is currently active — saved on your device in a private container shared between the app and its Safari extension, so the extension knows whether to block. This status never leaves your device.
Stop Scrolling uses no analytics tools, no crash reporting services, no advertising networks, and no third-party SDKs of any kind. No data is shared with any third party.

The extension also runs a content script on youtube.com and instagram.com. This script reads and modifies page content to apply overlays. It does not transmit anything it reads.
Stop Scrolling does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
